Highlight: Rondo Leads The Break

I love this decision-making from Rajon Rondo. While leading the break, you can see him eyeballing Ray Allen, who runs the wing and spots up on the arc. The Sixers have a 1-2 disadvantage but are mostly concerned about Allen’s three balls, which allows Mickael Pietrus to make an unmolested baseline cut behind the defense. [...]

A note to all you local C’s fans out there that may be attending the game tonight at TD Garden. The game will start just after 7pm and will be broadcast nationally on TNT. (Video) Rajon Rondo Continues To Dominate In Postgame Interview

Rajon Rondo is a tremendous player, but he tends to have a little bit of an issue scoring the ball late in games. I won’t go as far as saying he is scared, but he does pass up shots and defer to teammates in crunch-time….well a lot. Last night though may have been his coming [...]

NBA: Hawks Should Have Had Free Throw on Last-Second Foul

Mike Fratello had it right: the NBA announced today that Al Horford should have been given a free throw on Marquis Daniels’s off-ball foul at the end of Thursday’s game. At the time, ref Eric Lewis ruled that Daniels’s foul had occurred after the throw-in, making him probably the only person in the arena who [...]

Rondo and Davis ruled out for Wednesday’s game

Any news on the injury front this season has generally been bad news for the Celtics. That trend continues today as Boston.com is reporting that Rajon Rondo and Glen Davis will be out for Wednesday’s night contest in Miami and perhaps even into next week.

“We’ll probably be down to 10 for probably this whole week,” coach Doc Rivers said. “[Davis] and Rondo are out and will be out for probably the next couple games, maybe the next week.

“I actually made the comment [after Sunday's game] that Rondo would be ready for Wednesday, I think we were wrong.”

Analysis: I touched on the potential of this happening in yesterday’s recap and the potential nightmare has become a reality for this team. Luckily for the Celtics the upcoming schedule gets a little bit easier after Wednesday with extremely winnable games for a shorthanded Boston team against Memphis and Milwaukee.

Given these developments I hope Doc Rivers throws in the towel somewhat in the team’s quest to keep pace with Cleveland in the east and gives the young guys some significant playing time all of these games.

Ray Allen and Paul Pierce have been incredibly overworked in the past month as the injuries have piled up. The team’s main focus must now be shifted from winning the conference to getting everyone as healthy as possible for the stretch run and trying to ensure Allen and Pierce are fresh for the postseason.

If this philosophy shifts takes place (which I hope it does) the next few games may not be pretty. However it will better serve this team in achieving its ultimate goal of repeating as NBA Champions.
