Game 6 Will Be Wednesday Night at 8pm on ESPN

After the Thunder finished up their series by routinely dismantling the Lakers last night to send them packing in five games, a time has been announced for the C’s-Sixers Game 6 on Wednesday night. It will tipoff shortly after 8pm on ESPN. Looking ahead in the postseason, if the C’s do win Game 6, and [...]

Highlight: Rondo Leads The Break

I love this decision-making from Rajon Rondo. While leading the break, you can see him eyeballing Ray Allen, who runs the wing and spots up on the arc. The Sixers have a 1-2 disadvantage but are mostly concerned about Allen’s three balls, which allows Mickael Pietrus to make an unmolested baseline cut behind the defense. [...]

Celtics-Sixers Game 5 Tips off at 7pm

A note to all you local C’s fans out there that may be attending the game tonight at TD Garden. The game will start just after 7pm and will be broadcast nationally on TNT. However, unlike most TNT regular season games during the season, the tip will not come 15-20 minutes after the scheduled start [...]

(Video) Rajon Rondo Continues To Dominate In Postgame Interview

Rajon Rondo is a tremendous player, but he tends to have a little bit of an issue scoring the ball late in games. I won’t go as far as saying he is scared, but he does pass up shots and defer to teammates in crunch-time….well a lot. Last night though may have been his coming [...]

Video: Full Kevin Garnett Reaction After Game 1

Garnett followed up his season-best effort against Atlanta in Game 6 with a new season-high in points and another sensational double-double, as well 60 percent shooting (12-of-20) from the field. The Enemies List: Philadelphia, Part II

Before every playoff series this season, we’re doing some rundowns on the opposing roster for each team. Now that the Hawks have been dispensed with, we’re onto the Sixers. Here’s Part II. Players are listed in alphabetical order. Andre Iguodala: There are five guys in the league who have a claim on the title of [...]

Where Meaningless Happens: Celtics vs. Wizards

Wizards (19-62)
vs.
Celtics (61-20)

TIP OFF: 8:00 p.m. EDT
TD Banknorth Garden
TV: CSN (HD)
RADIO: WEEI 850 AM

I remember watching this same exact game two years ago.

Sitting lower level of a half-empty TD BankNorth Garden, the NBA’s second-worst team took the floor in an extremely obvious attempt to, well, lose and increase lottery chances.

“The NBA should make a lame duck rule; watching teams lose on purpose is a slap in the face to sports fans,” my Dad said to me, wondering why we even decided to show up.

It wasn’t even the All-Star break yet, and the whole Veterans-Vacationed / Rookies-Rewarded Law was in effect. It was meaningless to even try. Essentially, it hurt them to try in terms of the future. Today’s ping-pong-ball-lottery culture keeps the team’s franchise player(s) benched and the JV team fighting for a roster spot next season. Why risk injury? Why risk anything?

Jan. 10, 2007. After whistled for a foul on the floor, Tony Allen continued driving to the hoop, attempted an uncontested (but more importantly, extremely unnecessary) dunk and landed awkwardly.

Torn ACL.

“What the f—,” added Pops, “We’ve officially seen it all.”

How times have changed.

Tonight it’s the visiting team, Washington Wizards, playing the lottery — doubtful that stars like Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison will play due to injuries.

Why bother?

This side of the no-pressure scenario certainly feels a lot better. We’ve endured the past few years of post-AL East-clinching games where the Red Sox watched its AA team, the Portland Seadogs, countdown outs until the playoffs. And now that the Celtics cannot improve or hurt their standing, it’s an equally meaningless game for the Green.

What to watch for: Fan appreciation night. One last chance that the middle class gets to attend a Celtics game before the bigwigs takeover even the 300-level seats for absurd amounts.

What not to watch for: Any action from Kevin Garnett or Paul Pierce. Rondo will most likely come off the bench.

Prediction: Celtics 105, Wizards 100.
