He might have said “My feet were hurting, that’s all” but it wasn’t. What’s more was a lesson in teamwork and humility.
I just heard straight from the (work)horse’s mouth, “My feet hurt, that’s all.” Encouraging news due to the injury bug seeming to find its way easily into the Celtics’ locker room this season. What’s more important about this story than just hurt and tired feet, was the lesson in what a team should be and camaraderie. Apparently Bill Walker saw Rondo limping into the locker room, picked him up and lent him a shoulder to lean on. This team hasn’t made excuses and will continue to play hard from the first guy, Rondo, to the twelfth, Billy Walker.
When pressed about practice, Rondo replied that he “probably won’t scrimmage,” and just stick to offensive walk-thrus. According to Rondo, he “loves to practice” which is a great sign that as Rondo continues to ascend the status ranks in the NBA, he’ll be more Larry Bird than Allen Iverson.
