I'd think I'd rather have the Magic rally around Perk not being suspended.

if you dont think pietrus embellished it...I dont know what to tell you...other then youre a moron...the NBA is all about making everything look worse then it is...quite frankly im getting sick of the league and cry baby fans calling for suspenions in the playoffs....either way it isnt gonna help us, they might as well suspend him, cause if they dont the magic will just rally around that

I agree fully with Zach on this. The intent was not there and the elbow was not fully extended, it just looked more like a wrong place, wrong time situation for Perk, than anything ruthless.

On the other hand, it was clear it made direct contact to the face. And with the way the NBA has been cracking down albeit inconsistently on this kind of stuff I worry for Perk.

There was a bit of an uproar of how Rondo got off without a suspension for his game 6 shove of Hinrich and seeing how two Magic players have been suspended so far this playoffs, I can see the NBA trying to balance the scales in suspending Perk.

Thus even though he doesn't deserve to sit a game for that, I would be surprised to see a non-suspension news come in today.

Look, I don't think it was a total flop by MP--there's no question KP made some tough contact with Pietrus, but I think MP embellished just a bit.

I still contend that it's only sort of an "elbow"--it's not like he wound up and threw an elbow. He had forearm extended and, yes, he extended it just a little further when he realized MP was nearby--certainly with the intent of making content.

But if this merits a suspension, I think a lot of guys in the NBA would be suspended for stuff that happens in the course of regular season games.

Just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Agreed that a guy like Park smacking you is going to send anyone to the floor, but I'm still hopeful he gets the Kobe treatment, and it doesn't go above flagrant 1.

"And if you don’t think Pietrus flopped a bit here to help make his case, well, then I don’t know what to tell you."
Well, if you think that pietrus flopped, I DO know what to tell you. Ask a guy as big and strong as Perkins to elbow you in the throat. See how quickly you fall to the floor.
Truth is, it difficult to know for sure how much acting was involved, unless you're able to read pietrus' mind. Through a TV, no less.
But regardless of all that, an elbow connecting above shoulder level has the potential to be very dangerous. And I'm glad the league is attempting to protect the players.
If you believe there should be a double standard depending on the intention, to distinguish between cases like perk's and howard's, for example, ... yeah, I think it would make sense. But that's another debate altogether.
