Hi Celts fan. I am an LA Clipper fan and watched Q Ross for 4 yrs. Let it not be forgotten that he averaged over 20 pts per game in his Sr. year in college.

In terms of character, and team play he gets an A+. He was the Clips' designated defender . Unfortuantely, because Shaun Livingston could not shoot, having Ross play shooting guard put too much pressure on Brand and Magette (and Kaman) to do all the scoring low. However, he had streaks where he would score 16-18 even over 20 once or twice. So on the clips, who needed shooters from the outside, he became dispensible.

However, he signed with the Grizzlies as a free agent, and never stopped being Dunleavy's favorite defender. Kobe used to burn him regularly, but he never let up.

I suspect that if he plays enough Q Ross could become an offensive force, but if you have a bench with shooters, then I agree the Celts should go after him. You are not getting Ariza and Hill is washed up . You just need a vet to play defense and allow Pierce (and Allen) to rest.

Q is not just a small forward, but a G-F swingman. He actually played guard more than forward.

One other liability . He may be 6'6 but he is very skinny and has no bulk, so you won't get many rebounds from this guy as a forward. as a guard, that is not a concern.

Does Doc realize or hate young player so much that he refuses to use Bill Walker (a future all star)?

as far as i'm concerned, if we don't make a trade, go with what we got and give billy walker a shot in camp. people might be surprised. i know doc rivers would not be surprised. need back up center asap.

Ross would be a nice fit the celtics but I think Matt Barnes would be better the celtics need size and offense at the backup fowards spot he young and can shoot and the celtics leaders will make sure he play defense don't sign powe back knee injury to risky sign davis back but trade him along with tony allen and they really need to sign house back and mikki moore will be a liable back up once he learn the rotations

Mr. Ross sounds like a good defender . But not as a backuo for Paul P. Pierce is a small forward not a guard. He probable can guard some soft small forwards but Me.Jjames does not make since LeBron weighs 270...Quinton weighs 193. I see where you say he guarded Melo but that was before the dog came out in Melo this year.

Not saying we cannot use him but only against small forwards that are not physical. He's our man against number 2 guards and anyone on the premieter

At 193 lbs. Quinton would be worn down guarding LeBron (270lbs.)in a seven game series

Hey guys thanks for the comments. A couple clarifications. First off regarding the grades, I stand by my A grade for his defense. The guy started over Corey Maggette for the majority of his time in LA despite his offensive liabilities and his D was the number one reason why.

As for as the court awareness goes, I would submit that this A may be too high. That being said, Doc trusts guys like Brian Scalabrine who may be lacking in the talent department, to be on the floor since they do have an understanding of the team schemes and will be in the right place on the floor the majority of the time they are in there.

Ross, in my opinion is a guy that can fill that role much more than TA would, hence my reason for giving him the high grade in that department.

Putting it all together, I am not saying Quinton Ross is an "A" NBA player. It's clear he is nowhere close to that. Given the right situation however on the right team, he could surprise some people with his talent. I believe the Celtics could be that team.
