No way. He dished out 17 assists in a Summer League game-Summer League. If we were going to snatch up another guy strictly for distribution, I'd grab Tyronne Lue before Marcus Williams.

If Boston considered (and followed through with) obtaining Stephon Marbury, what's the risk with picking up an obviously gifted playmaker in Williams? Marbury was lit up on defense, and often times didn't contribute a damned thing to the offense, either. He could bring the ball up court under pressure, which is more than could be said of Eddie House or Gabe Pruitt. Marcus Williams is a step further-- I watched him play at UConn, and let me tell you, the dude has some serious vision. Main scorer? No. Defensive stopper? No. Legitimate backup PG for mile-a-minute Rondo, who can (at least) hold down the offense for a few minutes at a time? Absolutely.

Marcus Williams was an excellent PG at UCONN and has never been given the chance to shine in the NBA. I hope the C's give him a chance because Pruitt is Garbage! By the way Defense is overated in the NBA! I was hoping we could've selected AJ Price in round 2 because Rondo needs a backup! Speaking of Rondo, can we all just stop the nonsense talk about trading him for crying out loud!

Don Nelson is known for not playing rookies, but we will see if he play Step Curry the upcoming season.I bet a bucket of balls Step will play his share of the minutes and someone else's.Maybe M.Williams just wasn't ready for the NBA,you think?

Marcus Williams should have been a stud in the NBA. He had opportunities (yes, even in D. Nelson's rookie-free offenses). He has not yet figured out that defense and teamwork equal many years in the league. See Lyndsey Hunter, Bruce Bowen, Derek Fisher, Anthony Carter . . these are guys that busted their butts on DEFENSE and earned spots and champioships n some cases! MW is a nice thought, but put it to rest guys.

I wouldnt mind swapping Marcus Williams for Gabe Pruitt, the guy is a playmaker and is a natural point guard unlike Pruitt who was a combo guard in college and is barely learning to play point in the league. All MW needs to do is play about 12 min. a game. Sure his shooting is suspect but in his career he's averaged 15 min. 6 pts. and 3 asts. not bad for a backup point guard. He wouldnt need to do much because he's backing up one of the top 5 point guards in the league, just give him a breather here and there. What's the deal with Pruitt i thought he was under contract this year. Whats his contract status?

Hey, I live in Puerto Rico and attended various games where Williams played...As a playmaker he was on another level here he was always a step ahead of evryone, even his teammates, in seeing a play develop. That said, there were some games where his shot wasn't going in and instead of just acting as a player he would put up shot after shot, many forced, and take his team out of the game. Also, when guarding other elite players in the league down here he was lit up regularly. Despite this he was clearly the best foreign player in the league and led his team to a 22-8 recors, good for second place, his team will dearly miss him with the playoffs going on down here.
