[...] Zach Lowe of CelticsHub demurs our temptation toward lockout fatalism: The union’s doom and gloom argument is silly, and it’s not going to pan out. Ditto for another extreme argument, one the NBA won’t make publicly—at least not directly—but one the league is probably happy to have others make for it: That the replacement refs will be just as good, or better, than the “real” ones, proving the regular refs are incompetent, biased or even corrupt.
Okay, yeah... No one knows what Crawford has against Duncan. That much is true. He's also got the quickest T in the league. In short, you could call him another name for a donkey. Despite that, I still think he calls a very fair game and doesn't play favorites.

Replacement refs that have already been working the job is better than replacement players. I'd rather see the replacements and have the games go on than have the entire league locked out because the refs and the league office can't get some numbers both can agree on.

We all know the NBA has the worst officiating in pro sports anyway. For the union to be crazy enough to let us see what others will do in their place is just a big misstep in my opinion. They are taking the risk of showing there isn't much of a drop off, if any, between the regular refs and the replacement crew. On any given night in a regular season there are dozens of blatantly bad calls made. So how much worse can it really get? Refs starting fistfights with coaches? Refs tripping players as they run by so they can cover their over-under in Vegas? Maybe they will even find a few permanent replacements to get rid of some of the refs that should have been gone years ago.
