Greg Stiemsma’s Contract To Become Fully Guaranteed

The C’s gave their 26-year-old rookie a vote of confidence before Tuesday’s game. By not waiving the seven-footer, Stiemsma’s contract will become fully guaranteed on Friday, allowing the shot blocker to breath a little bit and perhaps unpack some boxes for good in Beantown. Here’s Chris Forsberg of ESPN Boston with some reaction from Stiemsma and [...]

I Am Awesome!

Yes. This is a “pat myself on the back” post because a) I’m a jackass and b) I predicted something correctly. Back on January 8th, I predicted that the next ten games will tell us everything we need to know about this Celtics’ team. If they struggled, it was time to blow it up. If [...]

Garnett’s Wondrous 3-point Rant

Via ESPN Boston’s Chris Forsberg, who knows a great, playful rant when he hears one, here’s Kevin Garnett discussing his not-so-newfound aptitude for three-point shooting after the C’s took down the Grizzlies. “When I walk around the streets, y’all stop acting like y’all shocked that I can shoot 3’s. Everybody in Boston, everybody in the [...]

KG alley-oops in practice

Bulls Celtics BasketballThe Red Sox are packing up their lockers, Tom Brady looks mortal and the Bruins appeared lost on the ice in the midst of their first five home games of the season. Sounds like it’s time to start giving your Boston Celtics some undivided attention.

On a day where Boston fans need some good news wherever they can find it, Frank Dell’apa of the Globe delivers this gem of a report from Celtics’ practice.

Kevin Garnett took another step forward in his recovery from knee surgery during Monday’s practice.

“He took a lob and dunked it — it was an amazing dunk,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers said of Garnett. “Everybody said, ‘we haven’t seen that.’ “

Garnett went the distance in an hour-and-a-half practice, during which “we worked them hard,” Rivers said. Garnett has struggled to convert alley-oops during exhibition games. This time, though, he punctuated the shot by saying, “Oh, I can do it,” according to Rivers.

“I think Doc’s been waiting for me to grow wings and fly,” Garnett said. “Just tell him to be patient, the wings are coming.”

While I would love to see some video of this momentus occasion that doesn’t include KG limping up the court afterwards, if that report doesn’t get you excited about KG’s recovery, I don’t know what will. The pieces are slowly falling into place here people. If we continue getting reports like this out of Waltham, I think we are a few weeks away from witnessing the start of a very special season.

Rasheed’s goal of 73 regular season wins may be a little out of reach. Here is my question to you readers though. If KG makes a full recovery and this team remains healthy throughout this season, what is the ceiling for this team’s win total during the regular season? 60 wins? 65 wins? 70 wins?
