Greg Stiemsma’s Contract To Become Fully Guaranteed

The C’s gave their 26-year-old rookie a vote of confidence before Tuesday’s game. By not waiving the seven-footer, Stiemsma’s contract will become fully guaranteed on Friday, allowing the shot blocker to breath a little bit and perhaps unpack some boxes for good in Beantown. Here’s Chris Forsberg of ESPN Boston with some reaction from Stiemsma and [...]

5 Questions With Kemba Walker

I had a chance to talk with Bobcats rookie Kemba Walker prior to the Celtics game against Charlotte on Tuesday night.  Here is what the UConn star, who is averaging 12.3 points, 4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game had to say. 1. How much communication have you had with Michael Jordan this year? Walker: [...]

I Am Awesome!

Yes. This is a “pat myself on the back” post because a) I’m a jackass and b) I predicted something correctly. Back on January 8th, I predicted that the next ten games will tell us everything we need to know about this Celtics’ team. If they struggled, it was time to blow it up. If [...]

One day before he’s scheduled to pass Larry Bird for second on the Celtics’ all-time scoring list, Paul Pierce won the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award. Garnett’s Wondrous 3-point Rant

Via ESPN Boston’s Chris Forsberg, who knows a great, playful rant when he hears one, here’s Kevin Garnett discussing his not-so-newfound aptitude for three-point shooting after the C’s took down the Grizzlies. “When I walk around the streets, y’all stop acting like y’all shocked that I can shoot 3’s. Everybody in Boston, everybody in the [...]

Injury Report

Nets: QUESTIONABLE: Keyon Dooling

It’s really unfair to both the Celtics and the New Jersey Nets to devote an entire Celtics Hub preview to this game.  The Nets are in a free fall which was only exacerbated by their two point loss to Philly last week.  If I went through every little thing that this team was bad at, a confessional stop would be necessary to cleanse my soul.  These Celtics Hub previews are suppose to be funny ways to talk smack at an opponent and get fans revved up for the game.  Unfortunately, I just can’t heap dirt on this team anymore- they are just too sad.

The NETS only out do their opponents in three statistical categories according to basketball-reference.com and only one of them is actually positive. They foul more than their opponent, shoot more (while making less, eeek!) and shoot a higher free throw percentage on average.  The free throw percentage is actually a great stat to have, and a testament to the NETS solid front court of Brook Lopez and Yi Jianlian.

Brook Lopez is a stud and the only player on this team with which the Celtics need to be concerned.  He also seems like a nice guy on and off the court.  In interviews he’s awkward but in the most endearing way possible.  He also helps teammates and opponents up off the floor, exhibiting solid sportsmanship.  Sportsmanship, for me, is big in terms of my player evaluations.  This kid plays the right way and will be in the league a long time.  Don’t worry Brook, better days are ahead of you.

Honestly, I only want to see two things out of the Celtics tonight.  I want everyone to come out unscathed and I want to see both Billy Walker and Ray Allen play 25 minutes.   This is the only team Doc can do that with and feel comfortable regardless of the score.  Play Walker a lot in the first half and if the need arises, step on the NETS’ throats in the second half.

Enjoy the win guys, ’cause it’ll be big.

Celtics 105, Nets 83
