The game I'm watching now has nothing to do with ray. This team is old, sluggish and streaky. Blaming ray is the easy way out. Kg and paul look just as old as ray. Rays a pros pro, and will play the scapegoat will. Outside of wade, kobe, and lebron.....this team will look the same. How can you blame the fourth best player on the team for their bad play. What about the the two best? Paul and Kg

Short of going back in time and trading Ray for Jordan (as if that was ever going to happen), I don't see a trade involving Ray that would improve the C's championship chances.

Seriously. All these trade scenarios are all well and good but they wouldn't bring back the talent needed to help the C's win. Even if the C's did a trade that landed them both Nocioni and Hinrich, how would that get the C's closer to the title?

Neither is going to spread the floor as much as Ray does.

Ray also does a decent job as a secondary ball-handler. I agree with the earlier post that maybe he could do less quick-3 shooting but part of that is also on the team.

Ray does take a bit more to get going these days so they really need to get him better looks; Reggie Miller was effective for so long because Carlisle and co put him in situations that maximized what he had left.

Not talking about this post, but a general 1+week trend. It seems like it is pile on Ray time. He was the game high scorer last night with 26 points shooting the ball over 50%. He had more rebounds than Perk (who is supposed to be around the rim) & tied KG (who says he is focusing on rebounds) with 7 boards which led the team last night. We keep harping on rebounding. Ray also led the team vs the Heat with 7 rebounds in that game with 3 steals (I'd expect older guys not to steal the ball so much). Free throw line 5-5 & 8-9. Some have talked about Ray as if he is washed up or some reject. I don't get it.

No doubt Ray's shooting #s are down some, but they are better than many other sg's in the association. Doc has relied on Ray the MOST of any of the big 3 when it comes to minutes, & Ray has played while other guys have been injured multiple games. I don't know if Ray has been playing through injuries, but he sure does play in A LOT of games. Part of these heavy minutes is chasing the other teams best shooter around non stop. If Doc could afford to give Ray some more rest on the bench I would bet big money that his shooting #s would go up (last night starts a trend?).

Even with his current numbers Ray is still a BIG threat. Just watch how much respect other teams give him which speaks volumes. He spreads the floor. I really don't understand trades where you end up having ONE deep shooter on the floor. If we don't have a couple of deeper shooters out there then everything is going to get clogged in the middle. How is Rondo going to drive the lane when everyone is sagging with 4 defensive players packing it in? How would Perk operate in such constrained space with a virtual constant double team?

I would love to see Ray shoot a few less quick 3s & drive the lane a little more for a pull up jumper or layup. It would be great to see Ray work to get to the foul line some more because that is still like money. One huge point made earlier was how much of the playbook involves Ray. He is smart & has good chemistry with this team which can never be underrated.

Could we have a post discussing minor trades now which would make the Cs better? Is their someone out there the Cs could pick up to help with just 1 area like pg or rebounding or a defensive guard specialist? Surely Joe Johnson has had trouble with several people this year?

I wonder if a strategy for tomorrow's game should be to let Vinny take 30 or more deep shots? Just kind of lay off him & dare him to take the deep 2. Even if he hits half of them I think it takes the Magic out of their post & Shard 3 pt line game.

Feed the Pig is priceless. I hope Rondo will say it over & over again. Sometimes the pig might be Rajon. If there is anyone who could get the pig the ball consistently it would be
Rajon. The way this team likes to pass it will be hard to get the pig to shoot more. Maybe if they all keep passing it to the pig, & all of them scream in unison 'Shoot it Pig!' when the pig catches the ball it will lead to a higher team FG%.

Yeah but that's why I love sports... speaking as a girl here.

I love the quote from Rondo too and loved even more the hard time KG gave Rondo about it during their postgame press conference. Speaking of that I love these two doing press conferences together.

I have to keep reminding myself that even though there has been an obvious decline in Ray's shooting percentages this year. That if he wasn't in as good of shape as he is it could be a hell of a lot worse.

Glad Doc stuck with only playing him a certain amount of minutes though.
