Rondo Replacing Johnson on All-Star Team

The Herald got it right from Rondo’s agent. According to his agent, Bill Duffy, the Celtics point guard has been named to the Eastern Conference All-star roster, presumably to replace Joe Johnson, the injured Atlanta Hawks guard. This would be Rondo’s third all-star appearance. Nice birthday present for RR, who probably should have been selected [...]

Comments Deleting?

We apologize if your comments are being deleted (provided that they are not offensive). We are looking into why this is happening. We also want to apologize for the lack of a game thread for last night’s game.  We had a premonition that the Celtics would play that poorly and thought if we pretended the [...]

A Word on Any House/Robinson Deal

AP

Zach and Brendan gave us the earlier scoop on the latest reports from Alan Hahn on Twitter, He is the man who has been on top of negotiations. The latest talks centered around Eddie House and a 2nd round pick for Robinson, but as Zach Lowe pointed out, that deal doesn’t work under the CBA.

So what does that mean? If the C’s wanna do a variation of this deal, they need to bring in a 3rd team, or use more spare parts from both sides to make the numbers work. Either way, it’s a more expensive proposition for the Green, as any 3rd team will demand a sweetener for their services in absorbing some salary.

All this being considered, count me as hesitant to pull the trigger on this move. I speculated yesterday that the C’s would have to give up a draft pick to get Robinson and it sounds here that will be the case. Robinson would be a nice addition, but is he worth a 1st round pick as a 3 month rental? I’m not sure and would lean towards no. A 2nd round pick? Sure. This team needs a backup point guard right now, more than anything else, so I hope Danny plans on making a move for one in conjunction with this if it goes through.

On the con side, Eddie House seems to be getting his shot back recently as well, shooting 46 percent from the field and 46 percent from downtown in the last 10 games. His defense is atrocious, but then again it always has been.

Robinson is an upgrade for sure, (I think) but I’m not positive how much of an impact he will make. The bench and Eddie haven’t been the problem lately. Maybe that’s the homer in me talking though. A tough call for sure…..but one thing was made clear last night, as it has over the past 2 months, this team needs help. I just don’t think this move is the kind of help the C’s need the most.

A draft pick for Nate Robinson? Maybe that’s worth it. A draft pick and a useful rotation player for him? Thanks, but no thanks. Use those expiring contracts on a backup point guard that can shoot Danny.
