Rondo Replacing Johnson on All-Star Team

The Herald got it right from Rondo’s agent. According to his agent, Bill Duffy, the Celtics point guard has been named to the Eastern Conference All-star roster, presumably to replace Joe Johnson, the injured Atlanta Hawks guard. This would be Rondo’s third all-star appearance. Nice birthday present for RR, who probably should have been selected [...]

Comments Deleting?

We apologize if your comments are being deleted (provided that they are not offensive). We are looking into why this is happening. We also want to apologize for the lack of a game thread for last night’s game.  We had a premonition that the Celtics would play that poorly and thought if we pretended the [...]

Let’s All Catch Our Breath on Nate

It’s clear that the media jumped the gun a bit on pronouncing the Knicks/C’s deal “done” or “all but done” a few hours ago. This stuff is inevitable in the Twitter age. (What’s not inevitable, however, are a few reporters continuing to report that an Eddie House/Nate Robinson deal works on its own or with cash/draft picks thrown in. It doesn’t).

In any case, here’s the very latest, via Chris Sheridan at ESPN.com/TrueHoop:

Lots of info and misinformation out there regarding the potential Nate Robinson-to-Boston trade. I have been told there are many moving parts, with some of the principals mentioned as coming to New York including Marquis Daniels, Bill Walker, J.R. Giddens and possibly Eddie House. Robinson’s base-year compensation status is a complicating factor, but not insurmountable. If the Boston talks fail, Nate would accept only a trade to the L.A. Lakers (he has veto power).

This will change, again and again, between now and 3 p.m. tomorrow, when the trade deadline mercifully passes. I didn’t even blink when I saw Marquis Daniels’ name mentioned there; everything is in a state of flux, and it’s quite possible that some executive on one of the teams uttered the words “Marquis Daniels” at some point in the last 24 hours.

I’d be stunned if the C’s dealt Daniels to the Knicks, but who the hell knows.

In any case, this is a very, very complicated deal because of Robinson’s base-year compensation status. It won’t be easy, and the changing nature of the media reports show that. But if Danny wants it, it can happen.
