Avery Bradley Likely Done For Season

On the back of a horrific game six performance, Gary Washburn of the Globe piled on with more bad news: Avery Bradley is almost certainly done for the season. Washburn: A source close to Bradley told the Globe that it’s in the “high 90s” percentile that Bradley will be shut down and will perhaps need [...]

Game 6 Will Be Wednesday Night at 8pm on ESPN

After the Thunder finished up their series by routinely dismantling the Lakers last night to send them packing in five games, a time has been announced for the C’s-Sixers Game 6 on Wednesday night. It will tipoff shortly after 8pm on ESPN. Looking ahead in the postseason, if the C’s do win Game 6, and [...]

Highlight: Rondo Leads The Break

I love this decision-making from Rajon Rondo. While leading the break, you can see him eyeballing Ray Allen, who runs the wing and spots up on the arc. The Sixers have a 1-2 disadvantage but are mostly concerned about Allen’s three balls, which allows Mickael Pietrus to make an unmolested baseline cut behind the defense. [...]

Celtics-Sixers Game 5 Tips off at 7pm

A note to all you local C’s fans out there that may be attending the game tonight at TD Garden. The game will start just after 7pm and will be broadcast nationally on TNT. However, unlike most TNT regular season games during the season, the tip will not come 15-20 minutes after the scheduled start [...]

(Video) Rajon Rondo Continues To Dominate In Postgame Interview

Rajon Rondo is a tremendous player, but he tends to have a little bit of an issue scoring the ball late in games. I won’t go as far as saying he is scared, but he does pass up shots and defer to teammates in crunch-time….well a lot. Last night though may have been his coming [...]

Garnett followed up his season-best effort against Atlanta in Game 6 with a new season-high in points and another sensational double-double, as well 60 percent shooting (12-of-20) from the field. Over his past two contests, Garnett is averaging 28.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, two steals and four blocks a game. After the game, KG was candid [...]

Did somebody say there was a basketball game tonight?

Today was quite the busy day as Celtics fans waited with bated breath for the news of who was coming and who was going.  The result was a bit anti-climactic for my taste but lost among all the hearsay and conjecture was the fact that Celtics have a game tonight.

What’s more is that tonight isn’t some mid season take down of the Kings or the Sixers.  Nope.  Tonight the Celtics take on the Lakers in LA.

Fortunately, all signs point to Kobe Bryant being out for tonight’s game.  Unfortunately, the Celtics will have to deal with a rejuvenated Shannon Brown coming off easily the best game of his career.  We all want both the Lakers and the Celtics to be at full strength come playoff time, but right now, the Celtics need an emotional win- not at Arco Arena.   The Celtics need to go out and establish dominance on LA’s other star players.  Rondo/ Newbie Nate (if available) have to also send a message to Brown that his very impressive stat line is not going to become a regular thing- at least not against the Celtics.

There’s really no need to go into things about what the Lakers do or don’t do well (sorry to say they don’t do many things not well (how’s that for a double negative!?)).  All Celtics fans know this team inside and out.  That being said, here are some things to keep your eye on tonight:

  • Will this be a game Ron Artest shoots the Lakers out of?
  • Will this be the game Kevin Garnett returns to form (at least enough to push Gasol around)?
  • How will the Lakers go against one of the NBA’s top teams without Bryant?
  • Will Nate be available tonight and how will he do in his debut?

I know I’ll be staying up late to watch this game for a lot of reasons.  The biggest will probably be the chance to see what the Celtics bench offense looks like. The smallest being seeing Jack Nicholson act like he can do whatever he wants during the game.  The most reverent and saddest will be the vacant seat on the bench where number 50 should be.
