I look at the starters vs the bench, and the bench looks hungry. The starters look like they want to just coast into the po's with the least amount of effort possible. I've been most impressed with Nate on D. I expected him to be a liability, but he is trying very hard to stay in front of people (something which is very novel and peculiar to many Cs) & annoy & pester the other team when they put the ball on the floor. He is like a gadfly or a hornet buzzing around bothering people, and I like it. I just hope the lazy D of the starters does not wear off on him. It's great that Nate is making 3s, but I don't expect him to keep shooting so well deep. It would be great to see him take it to the basket a little more & use his speed to get the 2nd unit running hard in transition. I really did not expect Nate to get even 1 rebound, but the fact that he is rebounding tells you something about effort when it comes to rebounding. I would like to see the starters turn up the intensity & desire, but if the bench can come in with tons of energy & effort then we can at least feel good about that. Hopefully, the starters will get deeply embarrassed by the disparity between the benches energy & effort & their own & give us a reason to watch the 1st quarter.
