From Rich Levine’s Saturday practice report at NECN.com:
“I think they’re better (without Shaq),” Perkins said. “They can run more. You got Anderson Varejao, who’s more of an active body. He get Lebron open. He opens up the paint for him. I think they’re a better team. Obviously, Shaq can help them but I think they’re better as a fast pace team.”
This may have been true two months ago, but I’m not sure it was true anymore by the time Glen Davis accidentally hurt Shaq’s thumb and then tugged lightly on it shortly afterward. Shaq had upped his shooting percentage from about 50 percent over the first two months of the season to a Shaq-ish 60 percent in 2010. The Cavs were more comfortable with him, and he was more comfortable with the team.
In any case, Shaq, for all his bravado and humor, has a history of holding grudges, escalating tensions and generally being vindictive.
He’ll remember this.
I hope Shaq remembers it, and I fervently hope that he’s well enough to play in the playoffs, IF our two teams meet. If not Shaq, then at least Z. Please.
Oh no. Shaq is so gonna pull Perk’s shoulder out of his socket after this. Maybe break Baby’s hand, kick KG in the knee, step on Ray’s ankles…
Even if Shaq holds grudges, he didn’t care about Baby and he isn’t going to worry about Perkins. I think he only gets mad at people he considers threats.
Varejao is the much better player at this stage of their careers. While losing Shaq doesn’t make them significantly better, it really doesn’t hurt them either.
@ rav……how about i kick you in the knee and kidnapp your mom?
