Game 2: Celtics vs. Heat

By Zach Lowe, CelticsHub.com @ April 20th, 6:14 pm Leave a reply »

Offensive Efficiency:

Boston: 107.7 points/100 possessions (15th)

Miami: 106.6 points/100 possessions (19th)

Defensive Efficiency:

Boston: 103.8 points allowed/100 possessions (5th)

Miami: 104.1 points allowed/100 possessions (7th)

This…this is going to be fun. This could be the ugliest, most blood-thirsty Boston crowd since…when? Game 6 of the 2008 Finals? That wasn’t blood-thirsty as much as it was celebratory.

Consider this your open thread for tonight’s game. What are you seeing? What’s working? What’s going wrong? How many shots has Quentin Richardson missed? How’s Baby doing playing the role of the Ticket Stub?

Tell us what you’re seeing, and let’s hope we all see a win.

  2. KC says:

    Celtics are the Wounded Animal!

    Chowing down on Miami.

  3. Still enjoying #17 says:

The crowd is gonna let Q. Richardson hear it….what a punk. I hope he gets Kurt Rambis’ed.
    Lets go Celtics!

  4. Cptn Bubbles says:

Nice pic! When did Q stop doing fist bumps to his head (that really caught on) after made shots? …….Oh, yeah, you gotta make shots first

  5. CELT PRIDE says:

I wanna see a beatdown…one that they will never recover from.. 4-0 celtics…so we can get some rest before taking down LBJ and his band of fools

  6. Jason says:

Couldn’t agree more. 20 point lead at half. Without KG. Drive home the domination in the second half. Leave no doubt they have no chance in this series. Psychologically break them. Hoowa!!

  7. dont_drink_the_koolaid says:

that picture perfectly paints why QRich is such a joke.

looking forward to the game tonight. think it will be similar to the first one. Cs win a tight one.

watching how doc subs TA & ray. and the battles between baby/beasley, pierce/QRich, and oneal/perk.

  8. I love Green says:

Pierce has 32 on Q, and Q gets 5 on Pierce

  9. JP says:

I am really excited for the Richardson Pierce matchup, I think Pierce is going to take it to him…hard.

  10. I love Green says:

    Big Baby…blocked…blocked…blocked

    Goodness!

  11. Zach Lowe says:

I love that the photo got its point across.

  12. I love Green says:

    Perkins now taking jump shots.

  13. I love Green says:

Lazy defense giving up 2 straight wide open 3s

  14. Zach Lowe says:

Couple of classic TA brain farts but no TOs so far. I think Sheed just got hit in what scientists call the “junk region.” You could tell he was in a lot of pain, because he actually broke a sweat.

  15. Ian says:

That was a fantastic backcourt save by Perk. Who said being slow couldn’t help your team out?

  16. Ian says:

Hey Zach. You know how Phil Jackson likes to give his players books to read. Im sure this is something Doc would never do it but I’ve just started thinking about what books I’d like to give these guys.

Perhaps a collection of “The Incredible Hulk” for our man Tony. Learning how to control the inner beast and that sometimes our own raw ability to destroy.

    Bit random.

  17. DeVelaine says:

That was fun… Sheldon’s shot that bounced off the front of the rim, then the backboard. I didn’t think I’d ever see a ball actually carom at a right angle from where it was shot in that fashion. Off the inside of the rim? Shots like that tend to show good things are to come.

  18. Zach Lowe says:

    So…apparently Jermaine O’Neal can’t shoot. At all.

  19. Dan says:

Called it. Davis is a better matchup than KG against Beasley. He’s been playing great, which says a lot since he’s already been blocked 4 times.

We can only hope that Doc keeps Davis in the starting lineup for the rest of the series. This will of course never happen as KG’s ego is too big.

  20. DeVelaine says:

Okay… So… We know the guys figured out how to tap into the 2008 defense in Game 1. I think they found out how addicting the rush is of playing great defense, because it really looks like they’re doing it again tonight.

  21. JP says:

Loving what Pierce is doing, loving that Richardson looks totally lost, love the crowd. Great run right now, Wade isn’t even scoring. Keep it up C’s!

  22. andrew(: says:

    big baby the ticket stub!!!!!

  23. I love Green says:

    was it a 23-0 run? or 21-0?

  24. JP says:

Baby is getting blocked a lot, but definitly making up for it with his hustle. Great lead at the half, lets keep the foot on the throtle.

  25. Zach Lowe says:

    Glen Davis: “I’m Glen Davis.”

does anyone know a website i can stream this game at?? im in my school library doing a huge paper due tomorrow and can only keep updated via espn gamecast… i know there are sites out there but i dont know the links!! anyhelp would be great

  27. DeVelaine says:

It was 21-0. And that was certainly enough for Miami to go “WTF? Where’d the offense go? Wait… Why’s Wade on the bench?”

    And that didn’t help much.

  28. Dan says:

Davis might have a historically odd half-time box score.

14 pts. on 3 made FG and 5 blocks against. But +15 for the half.

  29. CF says:

    LOOKING GOOD!

  30. DeVelaine says:

I was just reading the box score… Did you know the foul count is 12 for Miami and 4 for the C’s? Less surprising of that is Sheed has 2. I kinda got use to seeing high foul totals, but this so far is insane. Excellent defense without fouling? That’s nuts.

  31. Sophomore says:

Wow. I haven’t seen a team give up in the playoffs like this since… the Lakers in the 2008 Finals.

Kind of surprised they’re showing this soft.

  32. Joel W says:

    @Andrew

    Go to Justin.TV

    That is all

  33. Zach Lowe says:

@soph: Yup. Wade just didn’t feel like guarding Ray on that last 3.

  34. andrew(: says:

Joel W you are the man.

  35. JP says:

The Heat have given up, can’t say I blame them. Hopefully the momentum carries over.

  36. JP says:

Also, I think the C’s mission from this point on in the game should be to double the Heat’s score, its not out of reach.

  37. andrew(: says:

i guess my school librarys comp cant run it.. the video wont start. oh well. ill just have to keep checkin the game cast. wish i was seeing ray knock those 3′s down in real time

  38. I love Green says:

Ray is on FIYAAHHHHHH!!!!!!! 7-8 for 3!

  39. Joel W says:

@Andrew make sure that when you’re on there to click the link on the right side, that’s where they actually show the game usually.

  40. andrew(: says:

none of the channels start. its just a picture, no sound or nothing.

  41. G. Clayton Taylor says:

    Tomorrow’s Miami Herald Headline….

Richardson stomped on charter flight home!

    Q. Richardson, the wayward NBA player who upset the sleeping Boston Celtics with his ill-advised remarks after game one in Boston was found slumped in the rear of the plane after the team manager realized he had not deplaned with the rest of the team.

“He’s beat up pretty bad”, said the manager, who asked not to be named. “It took me 3-4 minutes to bring him back to consciousness”.

It seems Q’s teammates took umbrage at his unsolicited comments, describing some of basketball’s greatest players in an unflattering light.

    D. Wade responded like this: “If there’s something to be said from this team, I’m the one who should be saying it. Not some journeyman ball-er who’s been on more teams than I have Throw-back jerseys!”

A point well taken by this reporter, I might add! LOL

  42. G. Clayton Taylor says:

    Beat them into submission!!!!

  43. JP says:

Wow! Q-Rich misses the 3, Pierce comes up the other end and drills a 3. What a great statement, and a great statement game to the Heat. I think the Garden might be becoming a place to fear again.

  44. DeVelaine says:

And TNT no longer wants to show the C’s game. Apparently they no longer want to show Miami getting embarrassed on national TV.

  45. CF says:

Yeah TNT decided a while ago that this game was all wrapped up. They forgot about C’s fans who want to bask in garbage time glory tho…

  46. I love Green says:

Woooo!! Thats how we do it son! No KG no problem Big Baby has it handled. They can’t turn on the “switch”? HA! Eat it J.A. Adande! 2008 Championship Defense just happened live tonight!

  47. Brent Evansen says:

Glenn Davis starting over KG next year?…..Shades of LSU! Kid played great and always seems to play great in the primetime even if TNT sucks and puts the suns blazers
game on when were up 27!

  48. Sami says:

No KG? No Problem we can still beat you down and embarass you Miami. The switch got turned on in game one and it looks like it hasn’t been turned off.

  49. J-Bad says:

Yeah the Celtic sure did struggle without KG. Lookin ass. The defense is back and I have been tellin all you traitor fans that the Celtics simply did not care about the regular season and you can never count out a veteran team in the playoffs! Lets get it C’s!

  50. Chris O says:

Where are the Miami fans claiming Heat in 6???
