Greg Stiemsma’s Contract To Become Fully Guaranteed

The C’s gave their 26-year-old rookie a vote of confidence before Tuesday’s game. By not waiving the seven-footer, Stiemsma’s contract will become fully guaranteed on Friday, allowing the shot blocker to breath a little bit and perhaps unpack some boxes for good in Beantown. Here’s Chris Forsberg of ESPN Boston with some reaction from Stiemsma and [...]

I Am Awesome!

Yes. This is a “pat myself on the back” post because a) I’m a jackass and b) I predicted something correctly. Back on January 8th, I predicted that the next ten games will tell us everything we need to know about this Celtics’ team. If they struggled, it was time to blow it up. If [...]

Report: Thibs Turns Down Hornets Job & C’s Injury Updates

A busy morning here for the C’s as we await the start of game 1 and we start with the NBA’s hottest coaching candidate, Tom Thibodeau. Here is the latest this morning from The NY Post:

The Post has learned Thibodeau yesterday rejected a Hornets offer that has been on the table for almost a week.

Sources also said Thibodeau, credited as Boston’s defensive mastermind, is almost guaranteed to wind up with the Bulls, whom he met with two summers ago but lost out to Vinny Del Negro.

There also also multiple reports out there, signifying that Thibs is a front runner for the New Jersey job as well, and that Chicago has flown out to LA to interview Thibs.

Again, a lot of speculation at this point and a smart move by Thibs, in my mind, to turn down the NO job. He’s clearly going to get another offer from somewhere and his stock can only be helped during this Finals run.

Plus, there’s that question of whether Doc Rivers will be back in Boston next year or not. A Championship may increase the chances of him skipping town, so why wouldn’t you wait around if your Thibs, just to be sure.

A quick injury updates on Rasheed and Rondo from practice yesterday, after the jump

A week worth’s of rest does a lot to help the bumps and bruises and it has paid dividends for Rajon Rondo and Rasheed Wallace according to ESPNBoston’s Chris Forsberg out in LA:

His practice report from yesterday indicates that both Rondo and Sheed participated in the full practice yesterday and look to be ready to roll tonight at pretty close to full speed:

Wallace, who originally tweaked his back during Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals against Orlando then left in the fourth quarter of Game 6, had been held out of contact drills earlier in the week, but moved fluidly in the portion of practice open to the media, which included stretching and shooting drills.

Rondo said he’ll be near full health by Thursday.

“My body is fine,” said Rondo. “These five days have definitely been great for me personally. I know it’s great for the team, but for me I’ve been getting a lot of massages, a lot of treatment. I’m feeling better and better each day. The more time I get, the better I am. [Thursday], I’m sure I’ll be back almost at 100 percent.”

Things aren’t as positive on the Laker injury front with Andrew Bynum reporting his drained right knee has refilled with fluid just a day after the drainage. Kobe Bryant, along with Bynum also sat out Lakers practice yesterday according to ESPNLosAngeles.

As one final note, Brian Scalabrine appeared on Toucher and Rich, a morning radio show here in Boston on 98.5 The Sports Hub and happily reported the starters looked, “incredible” in practice this week, torching the second team during the 5 on 5 drills. He also expects Rondo and Sheed to be ready to roll.

I feel better about this series by the minute. Much more to come this afternoon, with a preview from the guys at Forum Blue and Gold.
