Avery Bradley Likely Done For Season

On the back of a horrific game six performance, Gary Washburn of the Globe piled on with more bad news: Avery Bradley is almost certainly done for the season. Washburn: A source close to Bradley told the Globe that it’s in the “high 90s” percentile that Bradley will be shut down and will perhaps need [...]

Game 6 Will Be Wednesday Night at 8pm on ESPN

After the Thunder finished up their series by routinely dismantling the Lakers last night to send them packing in five games, a time has been announced for the C’s-Sixers Game 6 on Wednesday night. It will tipoff shortly after 8pm on ESPN. Looking ahead in the postseason, if the C’s do win Game 6, and [...]

Highlight: Rondo Leads The Break

I love this decision-making from Rajon Rondo. While leading the break, you can see him eyeballing Ray Allen, who runs the wing and spots up on the arc. The Sixers have a 1-2 disadvantage but are mostly concerned about Allen’s three balls, which allows Mickael Pietrus to make an unmolested baseline cut behind the defense. [...]

Celtics-Sixers Game 5 Tips off at 7pm

A note to all you local C’s fans out there that may be attending the game tonight at TD Garden. The game will start just after 7pm and will be broadcast nationally on TNT. However, unlike most TNT regular season games during the season, the tip will not come 15-20 minutes after the scheduled start [...]

(Video) Rajon Rondo Continues To Dominate In Postgame Interview

Rajon Rondo is a tremendous player, but he tends to have a little bit of an issue scoring the ball late in games. I won’t go as far as saying he is scared, but he does pass up shots and defer to teammates in crunch-time….well a lot. Last night though may have been his coming [...]

Introducing (For Now): Avery Bradley

UPDATE (9:55 P.M.) Just returned from Doc Rivers presser here at the TD Garden and by all accounts it sounds like the Celtics will keep this pick and groom Avery Bradley to be “Rondo’s understudy.” Doc noted the team liked two players available at that spot, but liked Bradley more. Raved about his defense, said needs to work on PG Skills. No new news regarding his return, says will make a decision before July 1st. – B Robb

The Celtics have selected 6’3” Texas freshman Avery Bradley. It is unclear if they will keep Bradley or deal him for a couple of other guys picked later in this draft.

For now, here’s the book on Bradley: An elite defender who was unprepared to man the point last year at UT but shot the ball extremely well. A combo guard, and very much a work in progress. Via DraftExpress:

Avery Bradley is considered one of the best defenders in this group, and his situational strengths characterize him as a potential high-level role-player.

And:

While he’s certainly not the most dynamic offensive threat at this point, Bradley was very solid in spot up situations. With a sizeable 30.5% of his touches coming from such opportunities, he shot a second ranked adjusted field goal percentage of 60.9%. The least prolific player running the pick and roll (.57 points per possession) and a mediocre isolation player, Bradley was heavily reliant on his jump shot to score points.

And:

Nearly 75.7% of his half court shots were jumpers, and he led all players with a 43.1% shooting percentage on such attempts. Despite being a prolific shooter, Bradley is the worst finisher in this group, averaging 0.754 points per-shot.

* Note: Those rankings are among shooting guards eligible for the draft.
I’m at the draft with (among others) Graydon Gordian, one of the authors at the brilliant Spurs blog 48 Minutes of Hell and a big UT fan. Gordian says Bradley is a player, and he liked Bradley better than the other UT guys in this draft.
