Greg Stiemsma’s Contract To Become Fully Guaranteed

The C’s gave their 26-year-old rookie a vote of confidence before Tuesday’s game. By not waiving the seven-footer, Stiemsma’s contract will become fully guaranteed on Friday, allowing the shot blocker to breath a little bit and perhaps unpack some boxes for good in Beantown. I Am Awesome!

Yes. This is a “pat myself on the back” post because a) I’m a jackass and b) I predicted something correctly. Back on January 8th, I predicted that the next ten games will tell us everything we need to know about this Celtics’ team. If they struggled, it was time to blow it up. If [...]

Farewell Shelden: Williams Signs with Denver

Another piece of the Celtics bench has headed to the Western Conference today, as ESPN.com reports that Shelden Williams has agreed to terms with the Denver Nuggets for the veteran’s minimum.

Williams averaged 3.7 points and 2.7 rebounds for the C’s last year. He was a complete non-factor for most of the playoffs, with his most memorable contribution coming in a disasterous four minute stint at the end of the 1st half of Game 2 of The Finals.

Needless to say, Celtics management won’t be losing much sleep tonight about the loss, or hear a fanbase worry like they Tony Allen was left go. Shelden was a nice guy though and he turned in a couple months of solid play earlier in the season once Big Baby was out with his broken thumb.

This lead to an army of commenters petitioning for the former Duke forward to play more as the season rolled on. They were wrong, but hey you couldn’t blame them for trying.

For now, the C’s move on. Shelden wasn’t a great 5th man off the bench, but then again he wasn’t the worst either. Danny Ainge will have options to fill this role, with the recipient likely to see regular playing time in the first few months of the year with Kendrick Perkins recovering.

So farewell Shelden, enjoy sitting on the bench in Denver and the C’s hopefully welcome in a guy like Kurt Thomas to take your spot.
