I Am Awesome!

Yes. This is a “pat myself on the back” post because a) I’m a jackass and b) I predicted something correctly. Back on January 8th, I predicted that the next ten games will tell us everything we need to know about this Celtics’ team. If they struggled, it was time to blow it up. If [...]

One day before he’s scheduled to pass Larry Bird for second on the Celtics’ all-time scoring list, Paul Pierce won the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award. Garnett’s Wondrous 3-point Rant

Via ESPN Boston’s Chris Forsberg, who knows a great, playful rant when he hears one, here’s Kevin Garnett discussing his not-so-newfound aptitude for three-point shooting after the C’s took down the Grizzlies. “When I walk around the streets, y’all stop acting like y’all shocked that I can shoot 3’s. Everybody in Boston, everybody in the [...]

The C’s NBA Jam Team Looks Pretty Good

The wait is almost over. On October 5th, NBA Jam is making it’s return to video game world, and given one of the most anticipated seasons in NBA history on the horizon, the timing couldn’t be any better. In preparation for the event, ESPN’s Marc Stein came through yesterday with the breakdown of all the East rosters in the game, that will include legends as well as current players.

As you may remember, fans were able to vote for the team’s top 3 players to include in the game, but understandably some voting was really close between several guys. This caused the folks at NBA Jam to put four members on the roster of nine NBA teams and the C’s are one of the those lucky nine squads. Here’s the full breakdown of the roster from Stein:

Players: Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen

Legends: Larry Bird and Kevin McHale

You think Doc Rivers has problems in real life with all the big names (and egos) the Celtics have stockpiled? Try choosing only two Celts at a time from this six-pack. Boston’s roster is one of the nine that include four current players instead of three because fan voting was so tight. Combine that with the fact that Bird was never in the arcade versions of Jam, and you can understand why the game’s designers didn’t try to wedge Shaquille O’Neal on this roster, too. (Although we have to believe that Shaq, in a nod to his l-o-n-g history with Jam, is among the hidden characters who can be unlocked.)

The Big Three plus Rondo to go along with two thirds of the original Big Three? Can’t argue with that. This roster leads to two burning questions however:

1) Which two will be the best pairing for this game?

2) How bad will Rondo’s shooting rating be and will it keep him from being a playable character in this game? I hope his speed would be able to counteract the problem but I have my doubts.

A quick taste of the goods after the jump
