Rondo Replacing Johnson on All-Star Team

The Herald got it right from Rondo’s agent. According to his agent, Bill Duffy, the Celtics point guard has been named to the Eastern Conference All-star roster, presumably to replace Joe Johnson, the injured Atlanta Hawks guard. This would be Rondo’s third all-star appearance. Nice birthday present for RR, who probably should have been selected [...]

Comments Deleting?

We apologize if your comments are being deleted (provided that they are not offensive). We are looking into why this is happening. We also want to apologize for the lack of a game thread for last night’s game.  We had a premonition that the Celtics would play that poorly and thought if we pretended the [...]

C’s-Raptors Open Thread

Just finished up with pregame fesitivies here at the Garden with a few tidbits to pass along before the C’s make their preseason debut in front of the home crowd.

*Shaquille O’Neal will draw the start over Jermaine O’Neal, with J.O. being on a minute limit for his first game of the preseason after returning from injury. Shaq getting the nod should come as no real surprise as I said yesterday, given his health and the starters playing well with him the first two games.

Doc did mention that Shaq would be sit one of the back to backs later this week, so the coaching staff could give Jermaine more time to run with the starters, so obviously this battle for the starting spot is by no means over.

* Avery Bradley will be in uniform today, but will not play yet after practicing yesterday. Doc commented he is “not ready yet, from what I saw yesterday” so look for Bradley to ease back into action later this week.

What To Watch For Tonight

* Shaq/Jermaine rotation and whether J.O gets any time with the starting unit

* Von Wafer: He has more technicals fouls (2) than shots taken so far this preseason as he has looked hesitant thus far, trying too hard to make the extra pass and the right play. He’ll have to step up his play, starting tonight if he hopes to make this team.

*Who handles the ball in the backcourt? Doc has rotated West/Robinson and Marquis Daniels with ballhandling duties with the second team, likely in preparation for West’s suspension for the first 10 games of the year. Keep an eye on just how much each guy runs the ship tonight.

A full recap on the way after things wrap up here.
