Avery Bradley Likely Done For Season

On the back of a horrific game six performance, Gary Washburn of the Globe piled on with more bad news: Avery Bradley is almost certainly done for the season. Washburn: A source close to Bradley told the Globe that it’s in the “high 90s” percentile that Bradley will be shut down and will perhaps need [...]

Game 6 Will Be Wednesday Night at 8pm on ESPN

After the Thunder finished up their series by routinely dismantling the Lakers last night to send them packing in five games, a time has been announced for the C’s-Sixers Game 6 on Wednesday night. It will tipoff shortly after 8pm on ESPN. Looking ahead in the postseason, if the C’s do win Game 6, and [...]

Highlight: Rondo Leads The Break

I love this decision-making from Rajon Rondo. While leading the break, you can see him eyeballing Ray Allen, who runs the wing and spots up on the arc. The Sixers have a 1-2 disadvantage but are mostly concerned about Allen’s three balls, which allows Mickael Pietrus to make an unmolested baseline cut behind the defense. [...]

Celtics-Sixers Game 5 Tips off at 7pm

A note to all you local C’s fans out there that may be attending the game tonight at TD Garden. The game will start just after 7pm and will be broadcast nationally on TNT. However, unlike most TNT regular season games during the season, the tip will not come 15-20 minutes after the scheduled start [...]

(Video) Rajon Rondo Continues To Dominate In Postgame Interview

Rajon Rondo is a tremendous player, but he tends to have a little bit of an issue scoring the ball late in games. I won’t go as far as saying he is scared, but he does pass up shots and defer to teammates in crunch-time….well a lot. Last night though may have been his coming [...]

Doc Rivers Has Minor Throat Surgery, C’s Injury Update

A few notes out of Waltham today as the C’s returned home for good for the next nine days in preparation for their home opener next Tuesday night with a final preseason tilt mixed in for good measure Wednesday night.

We begin with the top dog, Doc Rivers missing practice due to a, “relatively minor planned throat surgery” that took place Sunday morning in Beantown. Celtics.com gets up caught up with a few of the details:

Doc Rivers underwent minor throat surgery Sunday morning at Massachusetts General Hospital and, if he was a player, would be listed as day-to-day on the injury list. In his absence, first-year Celtics assistant Lawrence Frank took the lead role as the team held its first full practice in a week.

In the absence of Doc Rivers, Celtics assistant and former Nets head coach Lawrence Frank ran the Celtics’ practice on Monday.

Rivers’ surgery, according to Frank, was a planned procedure and is nothing serious. He is not attending practices at the moment because, as Frank said with a smile, doctors “just want him to rest his voice box — obviously he’ll be using it quite a bunch.”

Even without Rivers in the building, it sounded as if Boston still got its work done today.  Rivers could return to coaching the team as early as Tuesday, for the team’s corporate sponsors open practice, but it’s also possible that he may not return for a few days.

Obviously we wish Doc the best in his recovery here at CH and take into account the wise timing of the procedure, giving Doc plenty of time to rest up before Miami comes to town next week. We’ll hold off (for now) on any jokes about the officials preseason technicals causing Doc’s throat discomfort.

As far as injury updates go, good news on the big man front as Jermaine O’Neal and Shaquille O’Neal practiced fully after sitting out various games over the weekend due to hamstring and hip soreness respectively.

According to WEEI.com, Marquis Daniels was limited with shoulder soreness. Daniels is still sore after taking a cheap shot from Reggie Evans one of the NBA’s dirtest players (SI Player Poll) on Friday night on a moving screen that Daniels was actually whistled on a foul on. He appears to be questionable for Wednesday night at this point.

Avery Bradley also did not particpate in practice and it sounds like he won’t for awhile according to Coach Frank (Celtics.com)

As a rookie, Bradley is anxious to get on the court and prove himself, but the team and training staff are taking precautions with his return no matter what the 6-foot-2 guard has to say.

Said Frank, “Ed (Lacerte) and our doctors have done a great job of really protecting him against himself and making sure that, from a big picture, we don’t want him to do anything that’s going to affect him long term.”

Finally, good news on the Delonte West front as tests showed there was no major injury causing the back issues thus far. D. West remains questionable for Wednesday night’s game, his last chance to suit up before his suspension.

As a minor note, all preseason cuts must be made before Monday, if you are looking for a timetable on the Wafer/Lasme watch. With the C’s final preseason tilt Wednesday night though, that cut could come later this week.

More to come tonight…
