Rondo Replacing Johnson on All-Star Team

The Herald got it right from Rondo’s agent. According to his agent, Bill Duffy, the Celtics point guard has been named to the Eastern Conference All-star roster, presumably to replace Joe Johnson, the injured Atlanta Hawks guard. This would be Rondo’s third all-star appearance. Nice birthday present for RR, who probably should have been selected [...]

Comments Deleting?

We apologize if your comments are being deleted (provided that they are not offensive). We are looking into why this is happening. We also want to apologize for the lack of a game thread for last night’s game.  We had a premonition that the Celtics would play that poorly and thought if we pretended the [...]

Report: C’s Sign “Tiny” Gallon, Will Send Him To NBDL

The news comes Via Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld’s Twitter.

The Boston Celtics are expected to sign rookie Tiny Gallon to non-guaranteed deal, according to sources. Milwaukee cut Gallon two weeks ago.

Sources say that Gallon will likely end up with Boston’s NBA Development League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws, once the season begins.

Kennedy has been a reliable source of news when it comes to the C’s, as he was the first to break the Tony Allen signing to Memphis over the summer. In addition to help verify the report, Gallon’s Twitter status from earlier today indicates that he just may fact be in Boston (TriggaTiny23):

Wheels down!!!! HELLO BOSTON!!!!!! yuupp

We’ll take your word for it Tiny. So who in fact is this Keith Gallon character? The 19 year old Power Forward (listed at 6’9” and 290 pounds) spent just one year at Oklahoma before declaring for the NBA Draft amidst allegations his mother was wired 3,000 dollars illegally.

Gallon was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2nd Round with the 47th pick, but was let go without even playing a preseason game, due to the team’s deep frontcourt.

“We wanted to do what’s right for the organization and for the player,” said general manager John Hammond, who wanted to give Gallon a chance to join another NBA team instead of waiting until the end of camp. (AP)

No word yet on whether Gallon will be uniform for the team’s preseason tilt tomorrow night, to give us a sneak peak at him before the start of the NBDL  season. However, given the guy’s young age (19) and scoring/rebounding ability at the PF position (10 and 8 in one year at Oklahoma) this could be a sneaky pickup for Ainge, in what could ultimately be a cheap replacement (with less skill) for Glen Davis in a couple years, if Big Baby takes off for bigger money elsewhere after this season.

Let’s take a quick look at Chad Ford’s draft  analysis of Gallon to get a better idea of what to expect out of the guy on The Red Claws. Ford listed him the 36th overall prospect in this year’s draft class

Projection: Late first to early second

Positives

* Strong, physical big man
* Very skilled for his size
* Excellent shooter with 3-point range
* Decent footwork in the post
* Skilled passer

Negatives

* Has struggled with weight issues
* Not an explosive athlete
* Prefers the perimeter to the low post
* Had major chemistry issues at Oklahoma

And for good measure, here’s some Tiny highlights from Oklahoma. Now the C’s have two guys that can break a backboard!
