Avery Bradley Likely Done For Season

On the back of a horrific game six performance, Gary Washburn of the Globe piled on with more bad news: Avery Bradley is almost certainly done for the season. Washburn: A source close to Bradley told the Globe that it’s in the “high 90s” percentile that Bradley will be shut down and will perhaps need [...]

Game 6 Will Be Wednesday Night at 8pm on ESPN

After the Thunder finished up their series by routinely dismantling the Lakers last night to send them packing in five games, a time has been announced for the C’s-Sixers Game 6 on Wednesday night. It will tipoff shortly after 8pm on ESPN. Looking ahead in the postseason, if the C’s do win Game 6, and [...]

Highlight: Rondo Leads The Break

I love this decision-making from Rajon Rondo. While leading the break, you can see him eyeballing Ray Allen, who runs the wing and spots up on the arc. The Sixers have a 1-2 disadvantage but are mostly concerned about Allen’s three balls, which allows Mickael Pietrus to make an unmolested baseline cut behind the defense. [...]

Celtics-Sixers Game 5 Tips off at 7pm

A note to all you local C’s fans out there that may be attending the game tonight at TD Garden. The game will start just after 7pm and will be broadcast nationally on TNT. However, unlike most TNT regular season games during the season, the tip will not come 15-20 minutes after the scheduled start [...]

(Video) Rajon Rondo Continues To Dominate In Postgame Interview

Rajon Rondo is a tremendous player, but he tends to have a little bit of an issue scoring the ball late in games. I won’t go as far as saying he is scared, but he does pass up shots and defer to teammates in crunch-time….well a lot. Last night though may have been his coming [...]

Game 4/82: C’s (2-1) @ Pistons (0-3): Open Thread

Boston at Detroit
Palace of Auburn Hills
7:30 PM EST
Local TV: CSN

Offensive Efficiency:

Boston: 99.6 points/100 possessions (24th)

Detroit: 103.3 points/100 possessions (17th)

Defensive Efficiency:

Boston: 98.2 points allowed/100 possessions (4th)

Detroit:108.3 points allowed/100 possessions (24th)

Probable Detroit starters:

Tayshaun Prince, Rip Hamilton/Ben Gordon, Ben Wallace, Rodney Stuckey, Austin Daye

Thumbnail: The Celtics head to the Palace at Auburn Hills looking to start their first winning streak this year against the shorthanded Pistons who could have less than 11 players available in uniform.

WHAT THE PISTONS DO WELL:

Take care of the basketball- sort of.  The Pistons have the fifth fewest turnovers through three games with 42 but they have also given up the fourth most steals in the league through three games (Basketball-Reference).  Isn’t that a logical fallacy or something?

WHAT THE PISTONS DO POORLY:

Share/Distribute the ball. Through three games, the Pistons are tied with the Miluakee Bucks and New Jersey Nets for fifth place for fewest assists (Basketball-Reference).

PLAYER/S WHO MAKE ME WORRY:

Ben Gordon

Ben Gordon has definitely not been forgotten among the Celtics and the Celtics’ fandom.  He shredded the C’s perimeter defense in 2009 with the Bulls but he had a lackluster debut with the Pistons last year.  Well, Gordon’s back now and he’s hit the ground running, coming out of the gate hot this year shooting 65 percent from the field.

PLAYER/S WHO DO NOT MAKE ME WORRY:

Rip Hamilton.

The poor man’s Ray Allen is suffering from an ankle injury as it is, and has struggled early on, hitting just 38 percent of his shots from the field. Remember when there was a trade rumor for the C’s to trade Rondo for a package of Rip and Rodney Stuckey?  Talk about bullet dodging.

WHAT WE WANT TO SEE FROM THE C’s TONIGHT:

Jermaine O’Neal finding a rhythm.  I know it has been only three games, but you have to start somewhere. He has a chance tonight against a smallish Detroit front line to make his presence felt. Matching up with Ben Wallace on the defensive end should help too, since he will be free to roam around and helping the C’s guards out with any penetration.

Prediction:

Celtics 91, Pistons 87
