Rondo Replacing Johnson on All-Star Team

The Herald got it right from Rondo’s agent. According to his agent, Bill Duffy, the Celtics point guard has been named to the Eastern Conference All-star roster, presumably to replace Joe Johnson, the injured Atlanta Hawks guard. This would be Rondo’s third all-star appearance. Nice birthday present for RR, who probably should have been selected [...]

Comments Deleting?

We apologize if your comments are being deleted (provided that they are not offensive). We are looking into why this is happening. We also want to apologize for the lack of a game thread for last night’s game.  We had a premonition that the Celtics would play that poorly and thought if we pretended the [...]

Shaq, Baby, Nate and Rondo Miss C’s Practice

Reporting live here from the C’s practice facility in Waltham, where Boston just wrapped up a practice with just nine players particpating due to a variety of circumstances. Here’s a quick rundown on everyone’s status entering tomorrow night’s tilt against Denver:

* Shaquille O’Neal was out with a sore calf. He is “iffy” for tomorrow night.

* Glen Davis was sent home with a 103 degree fever. He is also questionable for tomorrow night. Doc suspects it was Marquis Daniels, who was sick a couple days ago, who gave Davis the flu.

* Nate Robinson missed practice due to a family matter. He is expected to be back in uniform for tomorrow night.

* Rajon Rondo sat out with a nagging hamstring injury. He is also questionable for tomorrow night, though he practiced his free throw shooting with Kendrick Perkins after the session ended.

* Jermaine O’Neal was present at practice, but did not participate. He worked on drills with Roy Rogers after the session ended. He is still on track to start joining practices next week.

* Due to the multitude of injuries and other issues, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Marquis Daniels took turns running the point guard position. Luke Harangody also spent some time at the 5 spot. Everyone who complained about their rookies getting a shot should tune in tomorrow night as every healthy body on the bench could potentially see major minutes with so many injuries/illnesses heading into tomorrow.

Doc on the injuries:

“Today, we had no Rondo, no Nate, no Glen Davis, no Delonte, no J.O., and no Shaq,” said Rivers. “So it was a very difficult practice. So you gotta create a practice and we went with Marquis, Ray, and Paul, at the 1, 2, and 3, and we ran an offense for an hour with that and it’s good for them because we did that already once this year [when Rondo got injured], and we may have to do it again.

It at least gives them a chance to run off of it. But when you do that, you have to go over your whole defense again because everybody is in different positions. It messes that up, but it’s going to happen.”
