Avery Bradley Likely Done For Season

On the back of a horrific game six performance, Gary Washburn of the Globe piled on with more bad news: Avery Bradley is almost certainly done for the season. Washburn: A source close to Bradley told the Globe that it’s in the “high 90s” percentile that Bradley will be shut down and will perhaps need [...]

Game 6 Will Be Wednesday Night at 8pm on ESPN

After the Thunder finished up their series by routinely dismantling the Lakers last night to send them packing in five games, a time has been announced for the C’s-Sixers Game 6 on Wednesday night. It will tipoff shortly after 8pm on ESPN. Looking ahead in the postseason, if the C’s do win Game 6, and [...]

Highlight: Rondo Leads The Break

I love this decision-making from Rajon Rondo. While leading the break, you can see him eyeballing Ray Allen, who runs the wing and spots up on the arc. The Sixers have a 1-2 disadvantage but are mostly concerned about Allen’s three balls, which allows Mickael Pietrus to make an unmolested baseline cut behind the defense. [...]

Celtics-Sixers Game 5 Tips off at 7pm

A note to all you local C’s fans out there that may be attending the game tonight at TD Garden. The game will start just after 7pm and will be broadcast nationally on TNT. However, unlike most TNT regular season games during the season, the tip will not come 15-20 minutes after the scheduled start [...]

(Video) Rajon Rondo Continues To Dominate In Postgame Interview

Rajon Rondo is a tremendous player, but he tends to have a little bit of an issue scoring the ball late in games. I won’t go as far as saying he is scared, but he does pass up shots and defer to teammates in crunch-time….well a lot. Last night though may have been his coming [...]

Video: Full Kevin Garnett Reaction After Game 1

Garnett followed up his season-best effort against Atlanta in Game 6 with a new season-high in points and another sensational double-double, as well 60 percent shooting (12-of-20) from the field. Over his past two contests, Garnett is averaging 28.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, two steals and four blocks a game. After the game, KG was candid [...]

Kevin Garnett Sits Out Practice, Is Doubtful For Wednesday Night

Greetings from Waltham where the Celtics wrapped up their first official practice at their home practice facility since December 18th. Looking for a reason for this team’s slippage besides the fact they have been dealing with countless injuries and you can start right there. Altogether, Boston has only had three full practices in total the past month, so needless to say it was good timing to get back on the practice floor.

Unfortunately, Kevin Garnett was not one of those players taking part in the full contact practice, as he was not on the floor for any of the closing moments of practice which were open to the media.Doc Rivers took question on his All-Star’s progress, as he doubted his power forward would be ready for tomorrow night.

“He didn’t do anything today so I’m going to assume he won’t go tomorrow. He’s just not ready yet….he’s close….very close. I think he wants to play, I just don’t think he should play yet.

So what exactly did KG do today, if anything?

“He did some running on the treadmill and did all the stuff in the weight room. We went full court so he couldn’t…..but he did some sliding up and down. He’s day-to-day.”

On KG personally pushing it back too quickly

“He’s not that type of guy [to be careful.] This is one where I’m just going to make sure. He’s just built that way and us losing the last two didn’t help.”

CH’S Take: The situation is not surprising. The original timetable for Garnett was to return in about two weeks, but that in all likelihood was the best case scenario. Instead, we are dealing with a 34-year-old who has a history of problems in that lower leg. He’s likely not ready yet, but am happy to see Doc is in no hurry to rush him back in the midst of a homestand against subpar where the team should be able to overcome his absence.

With all that said, I’m a bit alarmed to hear that KG wasn’t present for any of the practice according to Doc. That may be more of a mental thing for Garnett more than anything else, but the fact we are talking about his return date, even though the guy hasn’t practiced in weeks tells me we might be waiting a while longer here. I don’t see Doc throwing KG out there without a practice or two under his belt….do you?

In any case, we’ll keep you posted on his progress as we look ahead to what should be a snowy evening tomorrow night at the TD Garden against Sacramento. The Kings play in D.C. tonight, so it will be interesting to see if they make it up here after that one ends on schedule.

Other Practice Notes

  • Perk was present at practice but only took part in the skeleton offense. Doc mentioned the team was doing a lot of active rebounding drills and did not want to throw Perk into that fire.
  • Delonte West was the only other player to speak to the Celtics media and provided some extensive entertainment speaking about his rehab.
