Rondo Replacing Johnson on All-Star Team

The Herald got it right from Rondo’s agent. According to his agent, Bill Duffy, the Celtics point guard has been named to the Eastern Conference All-star roster, presumably to replace Joe Johnson, the injured Atlanta Hawks guard. This would be Rondo’s third all-star appearance. Nice birthday present for RR, who probably should have been selected [...]

Comments Deleting?

We apologize if your comments are being deleted (provided that they are not offensive). We are looking into why this is happening. We also want to apologize for the lack of a game thread for last night’s game.  We had a premonition that the Celtics would play that poorly and thought if we pretended the [...]

Shaq Attacked: Celtics 99, Bobcats 94

ESPN Box Score • Queen City Hoops• Rufus on Fire

Tonight the Celtics got the job done.  As Ryan said in his preview, the Celtics got “a win of any kind, in any fashion”.  They won despite getting only 25 minutes from Paul Pierce and 14 minutes from Luke Harangody.

The story of the night was Shaquille O’Neal.  With Jermaine O’Neal and Kevin Garnett out until who-knows-when the big statue played an awe-inspiring 35 minutes, went 10-12 from the field and had five blocks.  35 minutes?!  And some former CelticsHub writers think “he can’t realistically give you heavy minutes.”

Okay, so Zach is totally right.  In the playoffs, against the league’s elite big men, Shaq will not be able to get what he wants like he did against Kwame Brown and Nazr Mohammed tonight.  But platooning with a (fingers-crossed) healthy Jermaine O’Neal and Kendrick Perkins could prove very effective for the Cs.

Shaq was awesome tonight.  He was aggressive.  He was in the right place at the right time.  He even guarded D.J. Augustin on the perimeter for a possession.  Best of all:  he gave all of us a glimpse of how it would look if he and Kwame Brown woke up next to each other.

Good win before a tough game against Orlando on Monday.

Much more to come from Brian Robb at the TD Garden…
