Rondo Replacing Johnson on All-Star Team

The Herald got it right from Rondo’s agent. According to his agent, Bill Duffy, the Celtics point guard has been named to the Eastern Conference All-star roster, presumably to replace Joe Johnson, the injured Atlanta Hawks guard. This would be Rondo’s third all-star appearance. Nice birthday present for RR, who probably should have been selected [...]

Comments Deleting?

We apologize if your comments are being deleted (provided that they are not offensive). We are looking into why this is happening. We also want to apologize for the lack of a game thread for last night’s game.  We had a premonition that the Celtics would play that poorly and thought if we pretended the [...]

Beaten Green: Celtics 77, Rockets 93

ESPN Box Score • Red94 • The Dream Shake

It was pretty clear from the first few missed jumpers from Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett that tonight was going to be long.  Despite being down 22 points at halftime, there was actually a glimmer of hope that the Celtics would come out of the locker room, start executing their offensive sets, and start really making to Rockets grind out their possessions.  The Celtics really could have been in this game in the second half.  Just like everything in the known universe, the Rockets scorching offense regressed to the mean to the point where the Celtics bench actually outscored the Rockets in the second half by six points.

By then though, the Celtics had already given up.  They allowed themselves to completely deflate.  The turning point in the game came during the second possession of the second half where, after just forcing the Rockets into a bad shot to start the third quarter, Kevin Garnett gets called for an illegal screen.  I love Kevin Martin, but just because his body is incapable of absorbing any contact doesn’t mean that every bit of contact is a foul.  Martin is incredibly adept at drawing fouls but there’s a cheap way and a respected way and Martin toes the line.

The biggest thing everyone should put in their minds after watching/reading the box score/hearing about tonight’s game: 3/10/10.

On 3/10/10, the Boston Celtics got destroyed by an inferior Memphis Grizzlies team and the doomsayers were packing away their greenery and putting on their Red Sox gear.  The bottom line is that the only thing that’s over right now is tonight’s game.  Okay, and this quick recap.

That’s it for now, Mike Salvucci will have more later.
